This Saturday, November 15th, Brock Lesnar, former Champion in the WWE (that’s right the WWE) will face off against 3-time Champ Randy “the Natural” Couture in UFC 91. Neither one of the contestants is a spring chicken, Lesnar @ 31 and Couture @ 46, but it is being billed as the best matchup in MMA history, and I for one am looking forward to it.Â
Starting off with Couture, the guy has proven himself over and over again. His experience alone could win him the fight. Some people question his age, but he is a MAN among BOYS in the octagon and his conditioning is on a world class level. My only question is will the 45 lbs he is giving up to Lesnar come into play if this battle goes to the ground. This could be a huge factor if the fight goes more than two rounds of grappling.Â
Lesnar is a Manchild himself. Most people pee themselves in fright when he waves hi to them. A lot of folks are questioning his background and experience. Sure, he came from the WWE, sure its rigged, but its not exactly fake. The WWE has showcased some terrific athletes ala Hulk, Rock, Stone Cold, Andre the Giant, Junk Yard Dog, Jake the Snake…..but I digress….you get my point. Ok, Lesnar is a little green, but his sheer size should make up the difference and make this an even fight.
Who will win? My money is still on the crafty veteran Couture to pull out another victory in an already unbelievable career.   1st round submission by arm bar.  I know, I know, two behemoths going at it and an arm bar. It has to be the weakest move in the book from a fan perspective. Believe me, I want to see someone get knocked out too, but I don’t think the “Natural” wants to trade punches at 46.
Rematch goes to Brock in 2009 after he earns his degree in Octagon next Spring.
