It has been rumored that the former UFC light-heavyweight champ Chuck Liddell might be fighting Rich Franklin at UFC 103. Chuck Liddell put a stop to those rumors however, as he recently told SI.com that he planned to give his brain a rest and would not fight again until some time after April 2010, if at all.
Speaking with SI.com’s Josh Gross on his possible retirement, Liddell said:
“I haven’t personally made a decision one way or the other. Hopefully my brain can heal over time. The shot last fight is something that normally wouldn’t hurt me. I think I need at least some time off from getting hit. I’m going to take time off sparring then. I’ll train still. Still gonna roll. I’ll probably do a little more jiu-jitsu than normal because I like it. It’s fun,”
I guess the big question now is whether or not UFC President Dana White will be announcing Chuck’s name into the UFC Hall of Fame later this week as part of the UFC Fan Expo. Does it make sense to induct Chuck prior to official retirement?
We’ll know the answer for sure this Friday, so be sure to check back with MMA CITY as we bring you all the latest news on UFC 100 weekend.
