UFC Fighter Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson spoke up against UFC President, Dana White in a recent interview with MMABay.
Although ‘Rampage’ says he’ll go back to the UFC to finish his contract, apparently the beef between Rampage-White isn’t over yet. Rampage insists that if White keeps talking “expletive” about him on the internet, the two should step into a boxing cage to settle the dispute.
“The last thing I want to say is, and this is to Dana White, do me a favor and put two UFC logo’s in that octagon and promote them as if they’re gonna fight each other and see how many people turn up to watch them fight. If Dana’s got a problem with me, about any texts I give my friends or anything else, if he’s got a problem with me tell him, I’ll do a boxing fight with him, but I’d show up. I’d show up with bells on. I’d show up dressed looking just like a boxer. He could even wear a head gear for all I care. That’s real, let Dana know what I said.
Dana has a history of talking shit about people on the internet and at press conferences and stuff when they’re not there, I’m not that guy. I’ve shied away from conversations and stuff like that in the past cos I don’t trust myself, I don’t trust my temper and stuff like that, now I don’t give a fuck no more. Tell Dana if he’s still got a problem with me, we can settle the problem like men and he can make as much money out of it as he wants. He can promote it, he can put it on TV and he can pay himself a big purse.”
Now, I do agree with Jackson that Dana White sometimes gets feisty online, but let’s face it… Rampage is wrong this time. With all consideration, White hasn’t been talking as much “expletive” talk as Jackson believes. Also, the question must be asked… Who bailed Jackson’s @$$ out of jail last year after he lost to UFC’s Forrest Griffin and went on a rampage on the streets of Las Vegas?
Rampage who was to fight in The Ultimate Fighter Finale in a much anticipated bout against Rashad ‘Sugar’ Evans bailed out of the fight to star as the new A-Team’s B.A. Baracus, ultimately disappointing the UFC and many MMA Fans.
A similar incident happened when Dana White went “expletive” on UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz and agreed to meet in a boxing match to settle the conflict. White showed up to fight but Ortiz backed out and could not be found in time for the match.
IMO, if White agrees to exchange, ‘Rampage’ would not pull an Ortiz and would probably show up for fight night. The event would do well as far as PPV buys, but how good could it be for MMA and the UFC? Hopefully, everything blows over and we’ll be seeing Rampage face Rashad Evans in a near future bout. Otherwise, the UFC is heading towards a similar path of Vince McMahon and his WWE antics.
